What is an online stopwatch?

A stopwatch measures how much time has passed since you pressed Start, to the hundredth of a second. Use it to time workouts, practice problems or a rehearsal. Press Lap to keep the time for each lap alongside the running total. Once you have three or more laps, the fastest and slowest are highlighted so you can compare them easily.

How to use

  1. Press Start to begin timing. Pause at any time, then press Resume to carry on.
  2. While timing, press Lap to add the lap time and total time to the table below.
  3. Press Reset to clear the time and all laps. On a keyboard, you can also use Space, L and R.

Frequently asked questions

Does the stopwatch keep running in another tab?

Yes. Time is measured from when you pressed Start, so the elapsed time is correct when you come back from another tab.

What is the difference between lap time and total time?

Lap time is how long it took since the previous lap. Total time is how long it has been since you first pressed Start.

Are my times saved?

No. The stopwatch runs only in your browser and nothing is saved. Refreshing or closing the page clears your times.
