What is a JSON validator?
It checks that JSON from an API request body or config file is syntactically correct. When something is wrong, it shows the surrounding lines and points to the spot with a ^ so you can quickly find a missing comma or quote. For valid JSON, it also shows the top-level type, the number of keys and how deeply it is nested.
How to use
- Paste the JSON you want to check.
- The result appears as you type.
- If there is an error, fix the highlighted spot and check again.
Frequently asked questions
What are the most common JSON errors?
Trailing commas, single quotes, unquoted keys, comments and unclosed brackets. JSON only allows double quotes and does not support comments.
The error location seems slightly off.
The location is where the parser could no longer continue. If a comma is missing, for example, the start of the next item is marked, so check just before the marked spot too.
Is my data saved?
No. Validation happens only in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
