Line Sorter
Paste a list and choose how to sort it. Natural number sorting puts "item 2" before "item 10".
Everything you enter is processed in your browser and is never sent to or stored on a server.
What is a line sorter?
Use it to put any one-item-per-line list in order, such as names, keywords, file names or to-do items, without opening a spreadsheet. Shuffle is handy for picking a random presentation order or splitting people into teams.
How to use
- Enter or paste your list, one item per line.
- Choose a sort order and options. The result updates instantly.
- Press Copy to paste the result elsewhere.
Frequently asked questions
What does "sort numbers by value" do?
Plain alphabetical sorting puts "item 10" before "item 2". With this option on, numbers inside lines are compared by value, so you get "item 2, item 10".
How are mixed languages sorted?
Lines are sorted with your browser's language-aware rules: numbers first, then letters, with accented letters placed next to their base letters.
Does shuffle give a different result each time?
Yes. The list is reshuffled whenever the text or options change. To shuffle again, switch to another order and back.
