What is a discount calculator?
Use it while shopping to see what you will actually pay at a given percent off, or to work out the discount from the original and sale prices. When discounts stack, such as 30% off plus an extra 10% coupon, it shows the real total discount.
How to use
- To find the sale price, enter the original price and discount in the first box. Add an extra discount if you have a coupon.
- To find the percent off, enter the original and sale prices in the second box.
- The final price, savings and discount appear right away.
Frequently asked questions
Is 30% off plus an extra 10% off the same as 40% off?
No. The extra discount applies to the already reduced price, so the total is 37% off. 100 becomes 70 after 30% off, then 63 after another 10%.
How do I calculate the percent off?
(Original - Sale) ÷ Original × 100. An item that costs 120 and sells for 84 is 30% off.
How do I calculate a sale price?
Original × (1 - Discount ÷ 100). 30% off 89 is 62.30.
How are cents shown?
Prices are shown to two decimal places. The amount you pay may differ slightly depending on how the store rounds.
